In praise of the F word

"In praise of the F word", is a great little article. Sherry's Thesis for this article is that more teachers should start using the threat of flunking as a positive teaching method. I think Sherry did enough to acknowledge the other side of argument. She argued from a teachers point of view as well as from a parents point of view. She gave an example of when her son was a senior in high school and how his teacher used the method of threatening to flunk her son. The "F" word discussed in this essay means to flunk/fail.  Referring to this word as the "F" word increase the effectiveness of this essay. The effectiveness of this essay is increased because the F word sounds harsh and scary. This is used for fear to get the readers attention and for them to understand the importance of the message this word is supposed to bring. I think that Mary's audience is very wide. This article is centered and focused directly on the youth but probably the audience are majority adults.  I think the audience is receptive to the word. Sherry is qualified because she is a teacher and knows the struggles of teaching. Her way of thinking is most accurate. Using the "F" word should be a new method used by all teachers. If teachers started using this method then, I predict that more students would pay attention in class and do there work resulting in a lower rate failure rate. Stressing the "F" word will make students more aware of there goals in order to succeed and pass each year.
